Not All Natural Sweeteners are Created Equal (no pun intended)

Truvia sweetener a powerful pesticide; scientists shocked as fruit flies die in less than a week from eating GMO-derived erythritol!

Remember when we thought Aspartame (Equal) was the second coming? That didn’t go so well, did it? Well now it turns out that the one thing we thought was great, Stevia, isn’t always OK either. It depends on the company and processing method. Truvia is NOT ok. So start doing some research on the stevia brand you buy and make sure it’s done right or you could be using a pesticide like Truvia.

I saw this post on Natural News and it curled my toes. Here’s the link to more info so you can make the right choice.

By the way, There is a verified non-GMO erythritol available today and it’s made by Pyure Brands, based in Florida.

Stevia rebaudiana foliage

As promised yesterday when I did the artificial sweetener posting on our other blog, here are some recipes that include stevia as a sweetener. I have a book called ‘Sugar-Free Cooking with Stevia’, by James and Tanya Kirkland which is a good resource. I imagine it is available in stores, on Amazon or on their site. http://www.cookingwithstevia.com (This is their website)

Also, by Lisa Jobs, ‘Sensational Stevia Desserts’. http://www.steviacanada.com/recipes.html

You can buy stevia from these sites too so if you are in Canada check out the one just above.
